Christopher Nolan brought us 3 Batman movies that revitalised the character like no other before taking the legend of Bruce Wayne to unimaginable heights we've never dreamt of before. He injected such a life into these movies with brilliant screenplays and some awesome filmmaking making it difficult for any director or studio to replicate such genius.
Then this year saw the release of Man of Steel. The movie was directed by CGI specialist director Zack Snyder and saw Christopher Nolan in the producing seat guiding Snyder into a new concept DC universe. The movie saw a new revival for one of the biggest superheroes ever to be created and box office revenues prove that there's much the Kryptonian character has yet to offer the world.
So what's next you may think, a Justice League movie not unlike Marvel's The Avengers, as is the rumours scouting about? Would or could a Justice League movie work? The Avengers were comprised of heroes who were normal men and given their significant gifts, with the exception of Thor but the Justice League consists of quite a few alien characters who could be seen as unrelatable to the normal theatre going audiences.
So what to do? At Comic Con, it was announced that...... get ready for it...... a sequel to the Man of Steel would in fact be a Superman / Batman collaboration! Can you possibly imagine a movie of such huge proportions even being made? With characters that the world seem to love being brought into one single movie together, that can be only box office success and complete satisfaction to all fans.
If done well the movie itself could eclipse the Avengers. Let's not rule out the Avengers just yet as Marvel progresses forward now on Phase 2 and even Phase 3 of the movie superhero unviverses that include the release of the latest Iron Man movie, the upcoming Thor and Captain America movies just on the horizon.
Here's what Variety reports on the Batman / Superman movie
"Superman and Batman together on the big screen is a dream come true for DC fans everywhere,” said Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment. “All of us at DC Entertainment could not be more excited for Zack’s continuing vision for the DC Universe.”
Snyder said, “I’m so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can’t wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter. Let’s face it, it’s beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world.”
The new film brings back Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder as producers. This time, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers, along with Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan.
