At the beginning of May 2014 South Africa saw the beginnings of what seemed to be a multimedia empire in the form of Cliffcentral.com. Gareth Cliff and his team formed the own radio station and got a spot on Comedy Central courtesy of DSTV as well as live streaming via a WeChat channel.

This was the first of it's kind in the country and we were all impressed at the way Gareth Cliff had come back after his leaving the SABC. Now it's being reported that due to low viewership numbers and after being moved to an earlier time, Comedy Central are cancelling Cliff's show at the end of June 2014, just a mere month and a half after it began.

Here's what Channel24 are reporting:
Comedy Central (DStv 122) is dumping Gareth Cliff's Gareth Cliff Show just a month and a half after it launched on the TV channel as a simulcast web show.

The internet radio shown on TV experiment failed to attract enough viewers wanting to "listen" and watch it on MultiChoice's DStv satellite pay-TV platform.

Channel24 can reveal that Gareth Cliff's last show to be seen on Comedy Central will be on Monday at the end of the month - 30 June – after it will be gone on the TV channel after 42 episodes.
Knowing Cliff and his team, I'm sure they will continue to find bigger and better ways to entertain us so let's all just wait and see.
