SICKO (2007)

When I initially started this blog, the thought of reviewing a documentary never really crossed my mind but seeing this on satellite television here in South Africa, made me stop and take a look. Honestly my curiosity paid off and I learnt alot.

Here and there I may have overlooked a few scenes which came off a little manipulative in nature but watched in awe as Michael Moore made his case regarding the seemingly poor health care system in the US against state run Health services as provided in Canada, Great Britain and even Cuba.

The basic fact is that while many medical services are governed by a Socialist system and it seems to be working for them i.e. the countries mentioned above and the United States only seem to assist people with Health Insurance. On a personal note, I, like so many others, have experienced the brunt of health insurance and the extra costs which go hand in hand with them when a family member actually needs medical assistance, so this was really shocking to me.

It seems that however far out Michael Moore may stretch his opinion, that there may be real hard damning evidence and perhaps a solution to the overpaid and extreme profitability of the entire medical fraternity around the world and especially in America, as depicted in his movie.

So, should you decide to broaden your horizons even just a little bit, I recommend you have a look at this this as there are valid points to his documentary and one day, God forbid, you should ever need medical attention, perhaps this movie could've influenced you or someone else enough to change things and make our illness into medical solutions instead of financial problems. Keep making documentaries Mr Moore, your words are not falling on deaf ears!
