For any avid TV viewer we've seen American TV series take on more darker and psychological content over the past few years. Did this trend start perhaps with everyones favourite serial killer , Dexter and steadily progress? Did the intensity of programs like Breaking Bad or even further back, Twin Peaks, change the way series are made? The list could go on and on but with the box office success of origin stories namely, Batman Begins etc one could almost expect the story of Hannibal Lecter to be told.

Yes, that's right, Hannibal, originally played by Sir Anthony Hopkins in the ever brilliant Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal and Red Dragon, now gets his own origin story. Dark,eerie and creepy with tons of tension to boot. Get ready for a dose of psychological tension, gore and a side of human flesh.....

SYNOPSIS
Explores the early relationship between the renowned psychiatrist and his patient, a young FBI criminal profiler, who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers.

The show is set for a 13 episode run and from the looks of it every nail biting, suspense filled, psychological thrilling episode will have us all on the edge of our seats. Well done NBC! Truly awesome watching series move in this direction. It's definitely a break from all the J.J. Abrams fare which are seemingly swamping our screens at the moment.
