One cannot deny the presence of Spike Lee in the pantheon of brilliant directors in Hollywood. His movies are usually aggressive and drive their subliminal points in. Every movie he has brought to the theatre has something new to contribute to cinema as a whole. So the mere fact that his name is attached to this movie is enough for most of us to go see it.
Apart from Lee, other names attached to this movie include Sharlto Copley ( seen recently in Europa Report and also the upcoming Elysium ), Samuel L. Jackson, Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Olsen to name a few.
Oldboy started its journey in the form of a manga / comic book and was brought to life via the 2003 Korean Oldboy movie. The original movie is a classic in it's own right and has brought tons of respect and fans with it. Now "Americanised" by Spike Lee and his cast in 2013, let's pray that this star studded cast will bring the proper respect this movie deserves.
PLOT
An advertising executive is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his punishment, only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.
