Everyone knows that no matter what you think of Michael Bay's movies, whether as a producer or director, they're filled with mega-explosions and testosterone driven scenes. From Bad Boys to Transformers, he has delivered box office gold. We already know he's behind the upcoming Ninja Turtles movie and the next Transformers instalment.
Now we hear that Michael Bay has an interest in bringing the popular game franchise, Ghost Recon, to the big screen. I'm sure there are people sighing and complaining about this but truth be told, I can't think of a better director or producer to put effort into a Ghost Recon movie. Basically, we all know what to expect from Bay.
Here's what Cinemablend has to say:
A few months back, Michael Bay teamed up with video game maker Ubisoft to help them develop their massively popular Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon series into a movie that would hopefully prove the first in a franchise. Though he agreed to produce the picture, Bay is reportedly holding onto the option to direct until he gets a look at the still nonexistent script. Well, we’re now one step closer to finding out if Ghost Recon will be a Bay-directed property as Variety reports the project has finally found some screenwriters.
Human Target and Jericho writer-producers Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia have been hired to translate the key elements of the game into a rousing action-adventure movie. Ghost Recon games center on a fictional U.S. Army Special Forces unit that basically serves as the president’s private army. Advantages of this special assignment include top of the line technology and the command to take down dangerous threats to America without leaving a trace."
So there you have it. Personally, as a fan of both Michael Bay and of Ghost Recon, I am truly enthused by this news. Let's hope this project becomes a reality.
