REVIEW
Here comes the Joss Whedon train minus The Avengers straight to your TV screen. He acts as writer, producer and director of the pilot episode. His TV roots via Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel can be seen here.
I waited in anticipation for this, as I'm sure millions of other Marvel fans everywhere, sat down on my favourite position on the couch and switched on Agents of SHIELD. What I saw was something light and a little recycled. The feel is almost familiar to NBC's Heroes from a few years ago but with the added clout of Marvel's name and superhero base. The only difference is that Heroes had a more sinister and darker atmosphere and wasn't confined to the boundaries of any comic book or established base.
Back to Agents of Shield, I think the premise is now set. The show can only grow from here and it doesn't hurt adding flashes of the Avengers here and there. The pilot follows directly after the Avengers story and now the world has realised there is more to the universe than just us alone and we mere mortals are just a shadow of beings far greater than the rest of us. In steps S.H.I.E.L.D. as a group who can monitor and assist heroes while protecting the world from the new post Avengers era we find ourselves in.
It's enjoyable for what it is and fans will have fun with this one.
