A while back we reported that the Flash may stand a chance of becoming a movie [HERE] as part of perhaps part of the build-up to a Justice League movie. Events now seem to have turned with focus being put onto the development of The Flash TV show by CW.
It seems that while Marvel has ruled the theatres with their superhero movies, DC have edged onto the small screen. There was the extremely successful Smallville which documented a young Clark Kent and his gradual growth into a full blown Superman. We then saw the Green Arrow get his own show, Arrow, which also seems to have established a fan base for itself. It's only natural that DC take advantage of their success on television by adding the Flash.
According to JoBlo, the role of The Flash has gone to actor Grant Gustin. They had this to say:
"Gustin will be seen in episodes 8,9, and 20 with the last serving to launch a
backdoor pilot for a potential FLASH spinoff. The character will start the first
two episodes with Allen in "Queen's home of Starling City,
with the 20th providing a window to see Barry in The Flash's world. Barry Allen
is described a Central City assistant police forensic investigator who arrives
in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a
connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fan boy, Barry is obsessed
with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime
has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante. "
ARROW co-creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg as well as director David Nutter will work on the spin-off. Geoff Johns will write the script. Season three of ARROW begins on October 9, 2013.
