REVIEW
Big Hollywood stars, Huge CGI scenes and a familiar story. I had a lot of fun with R.I.P.D. It had all the right elements, starting with actors like Ryan Reynolds, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Bacon to name a few. The movie is jam packed with enough CGI scenes to keep any audience entertained but I found the story to be very similar to Will Smith's Men in Black movies.
The premise of a young volatile recruit, Reynolds, teaming up with an older, more experienced lawman, Bridges, tackling a world ending event with nasty bad guys has been done many times over and with great similarity to any of the 3 MIB outings, though I did find the chemistry between Jones and Smith better than the one on offer here.
That said, I found R.I.P.D. to be enjoyable and fun, fitting right in with the type of summer fair expected. It's always fun watching Reynolds and great to see Kevin Bacon being badass in any movie. Not a bad way to spend 90 minutes.
